A 3-day safari to Lake Mburo National Park is a wonderful introduction to Uganda’s wildlife and natural beauty.

Here’s a detailed explanation of what you can expect on each day of the safari:

Day 1: Arrival and Lake Mburo National Park

Your safari begins upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or in Kampala. From here, you will embark on a journey to Lake Mburo National Park, which typically takes around 4-5 hours by road. This drive will give you an opportunity to see the Ugandan countryside and enjoy the changing landscapes.

Upon reaching the park, you will check into your lodge or campsite, which may be situated within the park or just outside its boundaries. After settling in, you will have lunch and some time to relax.

In the afternoon, you’ll head out for a boat safari on Lake Mburo, which is the largest of the five lakes found within the park. This serene cruise offers an excellent chance to observe hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species that inhabit the lake’s shores and waters. This boat safari usually lasts about 2-3 hours, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.

After the boat safari, you will return to your accommodation for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Game Drive and Walking Safari

Your second day will begin with an early morning breakfast before embarking on a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. This game drive offers an opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elands, topis, and various antelope species. The park is known for its acacia woodland, seasonal wetlands, and rolling hills, providing diverse habitats for its resident wildlife.

After the morning game drive, you’ll return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

In the afternoon, you can opt for a walking safari or a horseback riding safari. Walking safaris in Lake Mburo National Park are particularly special, as the park is home to various smaller wildlife species that are best seen on foot. An experienced guide will lead the walk, pointing out animal tracks, birds, and other fascinating aspects of the park’s ecosystem. Horseback riding safaris are also a unique way to experience the park’s wildlife.

In the evening, you’ll return to your accommodation for dinner and to rest for the night.

Day 3: Nature Walk and Departure

On your last day, you’ll have an early morning nature walk, which is another chance to experience the smaller wildlife and birdlife of Lake Mburo National Park. The park is home to over 350 bird species, including the rare shoebill stork, and many can be seen during the nature walk.

After the nature walk, you’ll return to your lodge for breakfast and to prepare for your departure. Depending on your itinerary, you’ll either transfer back to Entebbe International Airport or Kampala to catch your flight or continue with your journey to other destinations in Uganda.

This 3-day safari to Lake Mburo National Park offers a wonderful combination of game viewing, birdwatching, and unique walking experiences, making it an ideal introduction to Uganda’s diverse wildlife and landscapes.
